Clearwater, KS – CT-150 Under the Big Tent in the City Park
September 16 @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm
The Clearwater Chisholm Trail 150 Committee has been working diligently over the past year to arrange a great afternoon of historical presentations regarding Clearwater and the Chisholm Trail. The Saturday, September 16th event will begin at High Noon at “The Big Tent in the Park” and will continue until just before 5:00 p.m. Stop in as you can, and experience life as it existed during the busiest days of the trail that crossed the Ninnescah Ranch and old “Clear Water.” Stories will be shared about how the 1869 Ninnescah Ranch and old “Clear Water” had its place among passing herds of Texas cattle. Ride along with an early 1865 freight hauler who joined Jesse Chisholm in the hauling of goods from Wichita, past his trading post on the Ninnescah River, and on into Indian Territory. Ride along with an early cowboy who drove north on the trail for five consecutive seasons from 1868-1872. Experience life near Clearwater during the 1871 settlement by the first area homesteaders. Finally, learn about the business profession, that together with the saloons and poker games, often took the drover’s entire earnings from the drive.
