June 1 - December 31
Event Navigation
The first is the grand opening of our new Chisholm Trail Exhibit. The new 1,300 square foot exhibit will detail the history of the Chisholm Trail in relation to Kingfisher and Kingfisher County. The exhibit will include an 8×24 ft. curved wall with mounted mural of the Cimarron River, a chuck wagon setting on a platform and back curved wall mural of a night storm over the Cimarron, several maps of the Chisholm Trail, a detailed exhibit focusing on Jesse Chisholm (also detailed information about his burial place in Geary), a facade for the Red Fork Station, and a large map mural of trains traveling east to St. Louis, Chicago, and New York City. Additionally, at each section will be sounds and small videos, Cowboys and Cowboy dress, and a Native American display in relation to the trail. Appropriate historical artifacts, photographs and narrative will be displayed in each section. I do not yet have a thorough press release for the exhibit, as we have been working around the clock on the exhibit.
